Community rules
US Afterhour is for getting people together safely. Don't post, host or send:
- Hate or exclusion: keeping people out, or attacking them, because of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, body or where they're from.
- Bullying or harassment: naming and shaming someone, rating people's looks, threats, or pranks on a person.
- Violence or weapons: fights, bringing weapons, or threats.
- Illegal drugs: selling, sharing or advertising them, in any wording or emoji.
- Under-age drinking: alcohol for anyone under 19 (Ontario's age), or "no ID" events.
- Dangerous drinking: drinking games that push people past their limit, hazing or initiations.
- Sexual content: nudity, porn, escort or "sugar" arrangements.
- Scams: asking for money outside the app with tricks ("address after payment", gift cards, "no refunds"), fake tickets, or asking for passwords or ID photos.
- Someone else's details: another person's address, phone number or room without their permission.
- Spam and pretending: ads, sales pitches, "follow for follow", or pretending to be an official club, school or person.
Write it any way you like, with typos, emoji, spaces or another language: the rule is about what it means, not the spelling.
Who can use US Afterhour
- You must be 18 or older.
- Use your real name on guest lists, and one account per person.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
What you post
- What you post stays yours. You let us show it to the people it's meant for, in the app and in the cards you choose to share.
- Only post photos you're allowed to share, and think before posting photos of other people.
- We check new events before they go public on What's on, and we may hold, edit or remove anything that breaks these rules.
Hosting
- You organise your event; US Afterhour doesn't. You're responsible for it being safe and legal, including alcohol rules, the venue's rules and how many people fit.
- Money for tickets or shared bills is between you and your guests. Be clear about what it's for and about refunds.
- You can cancel a casual event yourself, and your guests are told. Club and school events, and events that ask for money, go to a moderator first.
- Put a home address only in "Exact address", where only people going can see it.
Money
- US Afterhour is not the middle person for money. We don't take, hold or refund it. If an event asks for money (a ticket, a cover or a shared bill), you pay the host directly, and anything about that money, refunds included, is between you and the host. We're not responsible for it.
- What we do: we keep a record of the event and its host, and if something goes wrong we help you reach the host through the app, using the host details we have. That's all we can do.
- Only pay the host named on the event page. Be careful with "pay first, address later", gift cards, or anyone asking for money in a message, and report it.
Reports and what happens next
- Anyone can report an event or a comment. When three different people report the same thing, it's hidden until a moderator looks.
- You can block anyone. They won't be told.
- If someone breaks the rules, we may remove what they posted, stop them hosting, or close their account. For serious harm, like child exploitation or threats, we tell the police.
- If you think we got it wrong, tell us through Report a problem and a person will look again.
The fine print, simply
- We work hard to keep the app running and safe, but we can't promise it will never go down or that every post is accurate.
- We're not responsible for what happens at events, which are run by their hosts.
- These terms follow the laws of Ontario and Canada.
- If we change these terms, we'll tell you in the app and ask you to agree again before you post.

Posting, sharing and groups (October 18, 2026)
- New events, words shared to the feed, comments and club pages can be read by our automatic safety check (Claude, by Anthropic) before or after they go up. A chat or group message is read by it only if someone reports it.
- A report hides a post or message at once until a moderator looks. Three take-downs in a month pause your posting until a moderator looks.
- Nobody is added to a group without saying yes. Only tag people who were there, and only your connections; a tag shows only if they agree.
- Events "only for" a school are for current students of that school, checked by school email. Don't try to get round it.
- A school that runs its page on US Afterhour approves its own and its clubs' official events. Everything else follows these rules and our moderators.
